Mission of NIPS

• National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) is set out to function as an autonomous organization to undertake applied research in the field of population and development, operations research and policy analysis to help and improve population welfare programme.
• It would focus on conducting multi-dimensional demographic, ethnographic and qualitative research, inter disciplinary and cross-sectional studies embracing socio-economic issues relating to population, redefined paradigm of reproductive health, population welfare and development.
• Projection and dissemination of impact and ramification of population growth and research findings for invigorating the interest and intensifying involvement of groups and community leaders to achieve the national objectives of population and development. Organize seminars, conferences, and demonstration in the sphere of population and development to stimulate and strengthen efforts for socio-economic progress.
• Develop a comprehensive database, Management Information System (MIS) and efficient communication of information, serving as resource centre.
• Test innovative approach, adopt latest analytical techniques to achieve the highest standard of research and evaluation in reproductive health, population welfare and development.
• Human resource development through conducting short term and long term training programmes, academic courses in the field of population and development.
• Conduct evaluation, surveys and monitoring of Population Welfare Programme and its components for providing research based analytical insight.
• Capacity building through training programmes for upgrading professional expertise know how, institutional linkages with renowned foreign institutes and exchange of researchers/professionals.
