Pakistan's first Demographic and Health Survey was undertaken in 1990-91. Since then, other surveys focusing on fertility and family planning, reproductive health, and status of women were conducted. The current demographic and health survey (2006-09) has special features, including maternal mortality and infant and child health, mortality, and morbidity, in addition to the conventional areas that most demographic and health surveys cover.
